초록

Based on Goal Content Theory(Deci & Ryan, 2000), the aim of this study investigate the mediating effects of grit and academic engagement between future-oriented goals and psychological happiness among uni- versity dance students. The subjects were 372 college students (males=55, females=317) enrolled in dance departments at four universities in Seoul Metropolitan City and two Other Provinces(Chungcheong, Gyeongsang), who completed questionnaires measuring future goals and grit, academic engagement, and psychological happiness. The data were processed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and structural equation modeling. The results of the structural equation modeling analysis are as follows: First, the relationship between intrinsic goals and psychological happiness is partially mediated by persistence of effort and academic engagement. Second, the relationship between intrinsic goals and psycho- logical happiness is not mediated by consistency of interests and academ- ic engagement. Third, the relationship between extrinsic goals and psy- chological happiness is not mediated by consistency of interests and aca- demic engagement. Fourth, the relationship between extrinsic goals and psychological happiness is partially mediated by persistence of effort and academic engagement. These results suggest that in order to promote psychological happiness among university dance students, it is necessary to pursue life-oriented intrinsic goals such as self- growth, harmonious family, and social contribution in harmony with achievement-oriented ex- trinsic goals such as economic growth, fame, and image seeking, and to actively engage in learning activities with passion and persistence toward these long-term goals.

Second, the relationship between intrinsic goals and psycho- logical happiness is not mediated by consistency of interests and academ- ic engagement. Third, the relationship between extrinsic goals and psy- chological happiness is not mediated by consistency of interests and aca- demic engagement.
