Abstract
This study explores how students majoring in dance at arts high schools stress perception and emotional journey of their dance training and academic life. Utilizing an open-ended questionnaire, a qualitative case study was conducted with 30 participants. The collected data were analyzed through inductive thematic analysis. The analysis revealed four major themes: (1) endurance and persistence as a way of survival, (2) psychological conflict and identity confusion, (3) meaningful growth and a sense of achievement, and (4) metaphorical understanding of life as an artistic journey. The participants reported repeated emotional stress due to rigorous training, competitive evaluation, and body image management. They experienced emotional fatigue, anxiety, diminished self-efficacy, and identity instability, while also seeking resilience and emotional recovery through dance. This study provides meaningful in- sight into the emotional development and identity formation of adolescent dance students. It highlights the urgent need for emotional support sys- tems and resilience-based educational interventions in arts high school dance programs.
