초록
Swan Lake is perhaps the only example of a classical ballet that has been consistently politicized over three centuries. This study aims to trace the political genealogy of Swan La ke and, in doing so, shed light on its various political implications and connections. It focuse s primarily on the "continuity” of Swan Lake's political uses, which have remained closely linked from its inception to the present day. This study argues that the politics of Swan La ke is not entirely unique or different from one period to another, such as imperialist views in the 19th century or communist propaganda in the 20th century, but rather an organic phenomenon that continues as dynamic public discourse and artistic insights of "retreat to the classics” and “revival” become fundamental to the establishment of "Russian” iden tity. Finally, this study reveals through the case of the politics of Swan Lake, which parado xically cannot be separated from politics when a work of art becomes a powerful symbol and soft power of a nation over a long period of time, which persists in a microcosmic way in the 21st century.
