미분쇄된 스케일은 Fe2O3(68.91 wt% ~ 77.79 wt%), SiO2,(5.08 wt% ~ 10.71 wt%) 및 S(0.23 Wt% ~ 0.68 Wt%)로 구성되어 있다. 연마편에서 SO3(0.25 wt% ~ 0.88 wt%), Cl(0.01 wt% ~ 0.25 wt%) 및 P2O5(max.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to investigate the geochemistry of groundwater and its formed in scale at Chosun University area. Groundwater sample and scale sample were collected at the Chosun University. The pH values of groundwater ranges from 6.27 to 6.66, and the Fe content are relatively small in the range from 0.01 mg/l to 0.02 mg/l. The content of Cl and Br were significantly enriched in groundwater, because those ions tend to behave conservatively when ionized in groundwater by human activity. Even though in small Fe content, the groundwater is oversaturated with respect to goethite, hematite and magnetite. The composition of the scale (powdered sample) consists mainly of Fe2O3 (68.91 wt% ~ 77.79 wt%), SiO2, (5.08 wt% ~ 10.71 wt%) and S (0.23 Wt% ~ 0.68 Wt%). The Fe2O3 content in scales (polished section) range from 63.72 wt% to 85.29 wt% and the SiO2 content range from 3.03 wt% to 9.8 wt%. The content of negative charged species in groundwater such as SO3 (0.25 wt% ~ 0.88 wt%), Cl (0.01 wt% ~ 0.25 wt%) and P2O5 (max. 0.92 wt%) were relatively high in scales (polish section) due to goethite with point of zero charge (PZC). The x-ray powder diffraction studies identified that red and yellow color scales were well crystallized goethite, and green color scale were malachite, cuprite, quartz and microcline. IR absorption bands of goethite were found from OH stretching, OH deformation and FeO stretching vibration bands. In the SEM and EDS analysis, iron-oxidizing bacteria, helically stalked Gallionella and sheathed Leptothrix species were identified in groundwater samples and scales. The micro-goethite and the framboid structure of goethite were precipitated in twisted stalk Gallionella and sheathed Leptothrix surface.
