교사들의 언어적 계획·평가(VPE) 실행 경험에 기초한 자유선택활동시간의 교수 전략 모색

본 연구의 목적은 유아교육의 독특한 수업문화인 자유선택활동시간을 위한 교수전략을 탐색하기 위해 VPE 교수법 실행 과정에 나타난 교사의 경험을 탐구하고, 그 의미를 분석해 보는 것이다. 이를 위해 7명의 유치원 및 어린이집 교사들은 2개월 동안 VPE 교수전략을 실행했으며, 그 경험에 대한 교사들의 대화와 저널들이 분석되었다. 연구결과, 교사들은 VPE 교수법의 실행을 통해 시각화된 유아의 흥미와 관심 읽기, 경청자로서의 교사되기, 놀이 관찰의 초점 파악하기, 놀이 개입을 위한 순간 포착하기, 유아의 반성적 사고 가능성 엿보기, 개별 유아의 기록 만들기 등을 경험하였다. 이러한 VPE 교수법 실행 경험들은 참여교사들에게 유아의 관심과 흥미를 볼 수 있는 렌즈, 교사의 반성적 사고를 제공하는 매개물, 교사의 역할에 대한 안내서 등의 의미를 지니고 있는 것으로 해석되었다. 본 연구는 VPE 교수전략이 자유선택활동시간을 각 흥미영역별로 분절하여 바라보는 시각에서 벗어나 자유선택활동시간의 전체적인 흐름을 읽게 해 주고, 유아의 흥미·관심·요구 등에 근거한 유아 주도의 놀이를 진행할 수 있게 할 뿐 아니라 교사의 역할도 명확하게 알려주는 효과적인 교수전략이 될 수 있음을 시사하였다.

Abstract

This study explores teacher`s experiences with practicing VPE strategy for free play and examines the meaning of those experience. In this study, seven teachers had practiced VPE strategy in their classrooms and four meeting and exchanged conversations with one another for tow months. Six forms of teacher`s practice of VPE strategy were delineated: reading visualized children`s interest and concern, being a good listener, focusing on play observation, capturing time for play inventions, getting a sense reflective thinking of children and making record of individual child. They comprehends three meanings: 1)A lens which can know children`s interest and needs, 2) mediums of teacher`s reflective thinking, 3) guidelines on teachers roles . This study suggests that VPE is a effective strategy for free play in the day care center and kindergarten. The VPE facilitates teachers to understand whole free choice activity comprehensively. And it gives teachers information about appropriate roles in the contexts. In addition, The VPE promotes self-directed play to children and improves a quality of play.
