예비교사의 개인적 실제적 이론에 관한 사례 연구: 반성적 저널쓰기를 통한 자기 이해와 반성의 제고

초록

이 연구는 희망교육대학교 4학년을 위해 개설된 교수법 강좌의 수강생 16명을 대상으로 하여 예비교사의 개인적 실제적 이론의 내용과 형성 원천 및 이론에 대한 반성적 활동이 예비교사교육에 주는 시사점을 구하는 데 목적을 두고 수행되었다. 이를 위해 교사의 개인적 실제적 이론에 대한 안내와 1차 반성적 저널쓰기, 동료비평 후 2차 반성적 저널쓰기, 그리고 교육실습 후 3차 반성적 저널쓰기의 과정을 거쳐 자료가 생성되고 자연주의적 방법에 의해서 분석되었다. 예비교사의 개인적 실제적 이론은 내용면에서 ‘교수ㆍ학습(학업지도, 생활지도, 인성ㆍ정체성ㆍ진로 지도)’(43.9%), ‘학생과의 관계’(28.6%), ‘교사 자신’(17.3%), ‘교육 환경과의 관계’(10.2%) 순으로 관심의 비중을 나타냈다. 이론 형성의 원천에 있어서는 ‘교육 실행 경험으로서의 교육실습’(37.1%), ‘초ㆍ중ㆍ고등학교에서 교육받은 경험’(25.8%), ‘개인적 삶의 경험’(22.6%), ‘예비교사교육기관에서 교육받은 경험‘(14.5%)의 순으로 영향을 미쳤음을 보여주었다. 그리고 반성적 활동(동료비평과 교육실습)을 통해 반박에 의한 유지, 명료화ㆍ심화ㆍ확대 및 축소 등에 의한 수정, 그리고 폐기 및 추가 등을 통해 이론의 정련화가 활발하게 일어남을 보여주었다. 이 결과에 기초하여 본 연구는 개인적 실제적 이론의 내용에 대한 지속적인 연구, 교육의 핵심 요소로서 내용의 중요성 강조, 그리고 예비교사의 개인적 실제적 이론의 형성과 이론에 대한 반성적 활동 강화 등의 시사점을 제시한다.

Abstract

This study explores the content and sources of preservice teachers' personal practical theories, and the effects of reflective activities such as peer critique and practicum. The data were generated through reflective journals in which 16 Hope University of Education senior students wrote three entries during the spring semester about their own teacher personal practical theories. The data analysis followed naturalistic case study methods. The analysis of the data revealed that the research respondents were concerned with 'teaching-learning'(43.9%), 'the relationship of teacher and students'(28.6%), 'teacher oneself'(17.3%), and then 'the relationship of teacher and educational environment'(10.2%). The analysis also indicated that their theories were influenced by 'practicum'(37.1%), 'educational experiences in elementary, middle, and high school'(25.8%), 'personal life experiences'(22.6%), and then 'perservice teacher education experiences'(14.5%). And it showed that reflective activities such as peer critique and practicum helped preservice teachers to actively articulate their personal practical theories. The results suggest that additional research investigating the content of teacher personal practical theories is needed, the importance of learning content as a core educational component should be emphasized, and constructing teacher personal practical theories and reflecting them should be encouraged in preservice teacher education.
