Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between faithfulness of job perceived by elementary school teachers and their personality traits. The subjects of this study were 115 elementary school teachers in Gyeonggi-do. The instrument were Job Faithfulness Inventory and Multi-factor Personality Inventory. The results of this study were as follows. First, there were significant positive correlation between faithfulness of job perceived by elementary school teachers and four personality traits. It was found that care, morality, self strength, and self-control and kindliness were positively correlated with job faithfulness. But, there were significant negative correlation between faithfulness of job perceived by elementary school teachers and two personality traits. It was found that progressiveness and self-decisiveness were negatively correlated with job faithfulness. Second, morality, ego strength and progressiveness were sub-variables of personality traits that had significant effects on job faithfulness. Above all, this trend of results appeared similarly in description of personality traits of subjects. Although the personality traits of teachers who are faithful to their job could understand through the above study, it is important to understand their personality traits and place their resources into academic and life guidance duties, and utilize tasks under their charge in a most appropriate manner.
