초록

본 연구는 영재교사의 역량 강화를 위해 영재교사역량 척도(The GATE Scale)를 개발하여 이에 대한 신뢰도와 타당도를 검증하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 영재교사 연수를 이수한 전국의 영재담당 교사 210명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 이 중 불성실하게 응답한 22명을 제외한 나머지 총 188명(회수율 89.5%)을 최종 분석대상으로 선정하였다. 영재교사역량 척도는 ‘영재성에 대한 이해(Understanding Giftedness)’ 요인, ‘영재의 정의적 특성에 대한 이해(Affective Characteristics)’ 요인, ‘영재 수업 기술(Teaching skills)’ 요인, ‘영재교사의 전문성(Expertise in gifted education)’ 요인 총 4개 하위요인으로 구성되었다. 본 척도의 신뢰도와 타당도를 검증하기 위해 탐색적 요인분석과 확인적 요인분석을 실시하였으며, 이를 토대로 구성된 영재교사역량 척도의 수렴 타당도를 검증하였다. 그 결과, 첫째, 탐색적 요인분석을 통해 4개의 하위요인, 총 23개 문항으로 최종 선정되었으며, 요인별 신뢰도는 .748 ~ .892로 나타났다. 둘째, 확인적 요인분석을 통해 영재교사역량 척도는 ‘영재성에 대한 이해’ 요인(6개 문항), ‘영재의 정의적 특성에 대한 이해’ 요인(4개 문항), ‘영재 수업 기술’ 요인(6개 문항), ‘영재교사의 전문성’ 요인(7개 문항), 총 4개 하위요인(총 23개 문항)으로 최종 확인되었으며, 영재교사역량 척도의 전체 신뢰도는 .932로 나타났다. 셋째, 수렴 타당도 검증 결과, 영재교사역량 척도의 4개 하위요인(‘영재성에 대한 이해’ 요인, ‘영재의 정의적 특성’ 요인, ‘영재수업 기술’ 요인, ‘영재교사의 전문성’ 요인)은 모두 교사역량, 교사 효능감, 교수신념, 교사 직무환경과 유의미한 정적 상관을 보였으며, ‘영재수업 기술’ 요인과 ‘영재의 정의적 특성’ 요인은 교사 역할과도 유의한 정적 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 본 연구 결과를 통해 타당도가 검증된 영재교사역량 척도는 향후 영재학생을 담당하는 교사 선발과 평가를 위한 진단 및 영재교사 연수를 위한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Abstract

This study aimed to define the construct of the teacher competencies for the gifted and describe the development of the The GATE Scale. The GATE Scale delineates four factors that are ‘understanding giftedness’(6 items), ‘understanding affective characteristics of the gifted’(4 items), ‘teaching skills for the gifted’(6 items), and ‘expertise in gifted education’(7 items). The GATE scale was verified and refined through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. It was also found that the GATE scale was significantly correlated with teacher competency, teacher efficacy, teaching beliefs, and teaching job environment and teacher role. The results supported good reliability, and construct and convergent validities of the GATE scale.
