이 연구는 서울시민들이 희망하는 용산공원의 상을 알아보는 것을 목적으로 수행되었다. 이를 위해 서울 시내 여덟 개 지역을 선정하여 희망하는 공원의 유형, 개발방식, 비용조달 방안 등에 관한 의식조사를 수행하였다. 이 연구의 발견은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 응답자들은 여러 유형의 공원 중 생태공원을 선호하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 대다수 응답자들이 용산공원은 국립공원이므로 중앙정부가 더 많은 비용을 부담해야 한다고 생각하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 다수의 응답자들이 공원의 인위적 개발에 부정적인 생각을 갖고 있는 것으로 파악되었다. 이러한 응답결과는 고양되고 있는 일반인들의 환경의식을 반영하는 것으로 이해된다. 결론적으로 공원은 친환경적인 공원이 되어야 하며, 시민들의 부담을 줄일 수 있는 방안이 모색되어야 함을 알 수 있다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to investigate the image of the Yongsan Park desired by Seoulites. This study selected eight places in Seoul and then conducted the survey to identify such issues as the desirable type of the park, the allowance of development, and the payment for construction of the park. Following are the results of this study. First, the respondents prefer an ecological park that artificial factors are restricted as much as possible to the park with several convenient facilities. Second, a large number of respondents think that the national government has to pay more costs concerning the park's construction because the Yongsan Park is supposed to be a national park. Third, the greater part of the respondents appear unfriendly to man-made development. This result has the same implication as the aforementioned finding that people prefer the ecological park to the park with several convenient facilities. Such a result seems to reflect the current trend that values the amenity and environmental aspects. Given the findings, the Yongsan Park has to be developed as an environment-friendly park, and the national government has to actively search for some methods to reduce the citizens' financial burden.
