Abstract

The study explores innovation behaviors and factors to facilitate or prevent innovations based on the experiences of human service agencies’ leaders in order for an in-depth understanding of the innovation in nonprofits. Findings from intensive interviews with 12 top-or mid-managers of community centers located in Seoul city identify eight categories of innovation behaviors under three components. The study also found three categories of factors affecting innovation. This study discusses the meanings of categorizing innovation behaviors and factors from a systematic approach and the practical implications on how to facilitate innovations in human service nonprofits.
