Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop a multi-purpose peer assessment system for university-level education. For the purpose, firstly, the researcher reviewed literatures about peer assessment to find the limitations of current use of peer assessment. Then, she conducted a needs analysis of university professors on peer assessment. Based on the results of literature reviews and needs analysis, she designed and developed a web-based multi-purpose peer assesment system. The multi-purpose peer assessment system has a few unique characteristics: self-learning function on the purposes and types of peer assessment, emphasis on instant feedback, decrease in efforts and times for peer assessment activities, instructional design functions for instructors, and so on. The effectiveness of the system was verified by applying the developed system in actual classes.
