Abstract
The purpose of this study is to derive implications for ways to increase the online teaching efficacy by analyzing the online teaching efficacy of university faculty, which has a very important influence on the adoption of online classes and teaching and learning. To this end, a questionnaire survey was conducted for professors of A University using MNESEOT, which is an online measuring tool for online teaching efficacy. As a result of the analysis, even though most of the professors took online teaching due to COVID-19, the level of online teaching efficacy was low compared to the result of previous studies. There was a high positive correlation amomg student engagement, class management, instructional strategy, and use of computer, which are sub-areas of online teaching efficacy, and among the four sub-areas, instructional strategy was the highest and student engagement was the lowest. The result of this study was similar to those of previous studies. As a result of analyzing the online teaching efficacy according to the personal characteristics of professors, males were higher than females, and there were differenced in instructional strategy, class management, use of computer. However the differences between position, age, educational experience, and major field were not statistically significant. And there was no difference according to the experience of participating in the face-to-face teaching support program. However, it was found that the more participation in the online teaching support program, the higher the online teaching efficacy. Based on these results, implications for the support approaches that can enhance the online teaching efficacy were proposed.
