서울시 영화업체의 효율성과 결정요인 분석

본 연구의 목적은 최초로 서울시에 입지하고 있는 영화업체의 효율성을 계측하고 그 효율성을 결정하는 요인을 살펴보는 것이다. 본 연구는 서울시에 입지한 영화업체들을 대상으로 실시한 설문조사에서 획득한 데이터를 중심으로 해당 영화사들의 효율성을 지역별/업종별로 분석하였으며 그 효율성의 결정요인 또한 분석하였다. 효율성 분석 결과 규모효율이 상대적으로 높고 순수기술효율은 낮게 나타나서 전체적인 비효율의 주된 원인은 규모의 비경제보다는 기술관련 비효율 요인이 크게 작용한 것으로 보인다. 하지만 규모효율도 그렇게 높은 편이 아니므로 앞으로 규모효율 개선의 여지는 상당히 존재한다. 지역별로는 강남구에 입지한 영화업체가 비강남구에 비해서 효율성이 상대적으로 높았으며 업종별로는 제작전업사보다는 제작겸업사의 효율성이 높았다. 대부분의 영화업체는 규모체증상태에 위치하고 있으므로 경제적 성과 향상을 위해서 전반적으로 영화업체들의 규모를 확대할 필요가 있다고 보인다. 효율성의 결정요인에서 종사자 1인당 매출액이 높을수록, 기업 활동 환경이 좋을수록 효율성은 높은 반면에 업종이 다각화되거나 집적경제효과 면에서는 효율성이 저하되는 것으로 나타났다. 영화산업은 아직 클러스터로 발전하기 위한 제반여건이 부족한 것으로 판단된다.
Abstract
paper aims at measuring efficiency of film firms located in the film industry cluster in Seoul and analyzing causes of the efficiency gap among film firms. It turned out that the efficiency of film firms located in Gangnamgu, Seoul is higher than that of firms in other areas in Seoul, and that film firms focusing on only making films are more efficient than firms engaging in distribution and imports of foreign movies as well as making films. Since most film firms show increasing return to scale, they need to expand their size more. Factors associated with higher efficiency are higher sales revenue per employee, favorable business environment, and Gangnamgu-based head office. However, it appears that diversification of business areas and accumulation undermine efficiency. It implies that the film industry cluster in Seoul failed to reach the stage of innovative cluster to create innovative synergy. In the future, the film industry cluster in Seoul needs the formation of credibility and the positive cooperation among main bodies of cluster to develop the innovative cluster.
