Abstract
This study aims to restructure the classification of EdTech from a learner-centered perspective and to explore its applicability in actual classroom settings. To this end, the first level of classification was conducted based on the primary target with which the learner interacts during the learning process. Specifically, three types of learner interaction—learner–content, learner–learner, and learner–instructor— were established as the primary classification criteria. Subsequently, a secondary classification was developed by incorporating the intended purpose of EdTech use in supporting the learner's construction of learning experiences through these interactions. This two-tiered approach led to the proposal of a total of 11 refined EdTech categories. Furthermore, to guide the application of each EdTech type in classroom instruction, the study proposed a four-quadrant model that categorizes classroom learning situations. In this model, EdTech was placed at the center, and two axes were established: the decision-maker for EdTech use (teacher-centered vs. learner-centered) and the mode of use (individual use vs. group use). By mapping appropriate EdTech types to each learning situation, the study aims to provide practical guidance for teachers in selecting and utilizing EdTech tools to support student learning in diverse instructional contexts.
