초록

Juan José Millás’s work frequently features characters who experience delusions and hallucinations. Delusions, which stem from subjective distortions of reality, are generally classified as either delusions of grandeur or delusions of persecution. Hallucinations, on the other hand, involve perceiving something that does not actually exist. The author does not regard delusions and hallucinations as conditions to be avoided, but rather as abilities to be cultivated. He also places greater value on the unreal world of fiction than on reality itself. Accordingly, he contends that delusions and hallucinations function as gateways to a delightful and fantastical unreality, and that the distillation of this unreality is what constitutes literature.
