아동청소년의 다문화 수용성 변화양상과 그에 영향을 미치는 공동체의식과 사회적 관계 변수의 효과

초록

한국교육개발원의 한국교육종단조사2013(KELS2013)의 초5 패널을 사용하여 시간의 흐름에 따른 다문화 수용성의 변화양상(초5~중1)과 다문화 수용성에 영향을 미치는 공동체의식, 교사, 교우, 부모와의 사회적 관계를 탐색하였다. 선택한 문항을 중심으로 변수 사용의 타당성을 밝히기 위하여 요인분석, Rasch 측정모형을 사용하였다. 이후 2수준 HLM모형을 사용하였다. 관계역량과 관련된 다문화 수용성(다문화 수용성_관계역량)은 매년 일정하게 증가하였다. 그러나 모든 변수를 넣은 모형에서는 관계역량을 나타내는 다문화 수용성의 선형효과는 유의하지 않았고, 공동체의식(배 려, 참여)이 관계역량을 나타내는 다문화 수용성에 미치는 효과 크기는 모형에 들어간 평등인식과 관련된 다문화 수용성 변수(다문화 수용성_평등) 다음으로 컸다. 아동청소년의 미시체계에 있는 교사, 교우 및 부모와의 사회적 관계가 다문화 수용성 관계역량에 미치는 효과는 다른 변수를 통제했을 때는 미미하였다. 다문화 수용성과 공동체의식과 의 관계가 서구의 연구에서의 결과와 다른 점 중의 하나는 사회문화적인 특성 이외에도 설문에 사용된 문항 특성과도 관련이 있다고 볼 수 있다.

Abstract

This study investigated Korean children and adolescents’ multicultural receptivity development from 5th grade to 7th grade using Korean Educational Longitudinal Study of 2013 (KELS 2013) data set collected by the Korean Educational Development Institute. In addition, the effects of sense of community and social relationship with teachers, peers, and parents on multicultural receptivity were investigated using a two-level HLM growth model. In order to create variables, scale validation was conducted using factor analysis and Rasch measurement model. Overall multicultural receptivity relationship changes positively each year. However, in a full model, time linear effect was not statistically significant when all variables were included and the effect of relationship with peers, teachers, and parents on the relationship-related multicultural receptivity was small. The effect of recognition of other’s rights-related multicultural receptivity on social relationship-related multicultural receptivity was the largest followed by empathy-related sense of community. The result that sense of community was positively associated with multicultural receptivity is different from studies conducted by researchers in the West. One possible reason for this discrepancy may be caused by the characteristics of items t hat constitute the survey, in addition to socio-cultural differences where the studies were conducted.
