This study aimed to find out 1) the significant predictive factors among sub-factors of a standardized aptitude test affecting college students' major and 2) the extent that their current major matches that expected by stepwise two-group discriminant function analysis. Subject was 325 Inha University students. 'The Standardized Aptitude Diagnosis Test' developed by Lee & Kim(1983) was employed as a research instrument. The findings showed that numerical, verbal, reasoning, and science and mechanical aptitude were statistically significant as predictive variables when six capacity-factors entered into discriminant function analysis. Five sub-factors - computing, verbal, reasoning, deductive reasoning, physical, and perceptual speed - were statistically significant when eleven sub-factors entered. The result of classification showed that 76.9% and 77.5% of original grouped cases were correctly classified when 5 capacity-factors and 11 sub-factors entered respectively.
