Abstract
Lee, J.Y, Han, T.K., Park, S.H., Kim, D.Y., Kim, D.H., Lee, S.H. Ann, E.S., Kang, H.S. Effect of 12week aerobic exercise according to GNB3 gene polymorphism on glucose tolerance. Exercise Science, 15(1), 77-86, 2006. The purpose of the study was to compare effect of 12 week aerobic exercise on glucose tolerance according to GNB3 gene polymorphism. A total of 51 apparently healthy mid-life women were recruited via flyers and local advertisement. 12week aerobic exercise was executed dance sports to 50-60% of VO2max, 60min /day, and 3times/week. Repeated measures analysis of variance showed that resting blood glucose and insulin concentration had not significant difference according to GNB3 gene polymorphism. Weight, BMI, waist circumfe- rence, and glucose AUC after 12week exercise were significantly lower than before 12week excercise, but had not significant difference between GNB3 gene polymorphism. Also, there were not interaction effects between 12 week exercise and GNB3 gene polymorphism. A change on glucose tolerance according to GNB3 gene polymorphism after 12 week excercise had not significant difference, but TT homozygotes had lowest decrease on blood glucose AUC. In addition, blood glucose concentration of OGTT-120min in TT homozygotes was over pre-diabetic border line. The current findings of the study suggest that there is no effects of 12week aerobic exercise according to GNB3 gene polymrphism on obesity indices, but not significant difference, GNB3 gene polymorphism may have meaningful trend on glucose tolerance.
