유아 다문화교육을 위한 그림책 선정 기준과 내용 분석: 누리과정(교사용 지도서) 추천도서를 중심으로

본 연구는 유아를 대상으로 그림책을 활용하여 다문화교육을 하기 위해 그림책 선정 기준을 제시하고, 그 선정기준에 따라 국가수준 교육과정인 누리과정의 교사용 지도서에 추천된 그림책을 분석하였다. 우선 그림책 선정 기준은 일반적인 좋은 그림책 선정기준과 다문화교육 내용 요소 그리고 그 밖에 고려 사항으로 선정하였다. 일반적인 좋은 그림책 선정 기준은 문학성, 예술성, 교육성을 담고 있어야 한다. 다문화교육 내용 요소는 다양성, 정체성, 반편견, 공동체 협력으로 나누어 살펴봐야 하며 그 밖에 그림책 선정 시 고려사항은 글과 그림 작가의 배경, 책의 출판년도, 교육현장에서의 접근성과 활용성이 있다. 누리과정 교사용 지도서 ‘동화･동시･동극’영역에 제시된 그림책 중 동시를 제외한 총 264권의 그림책 중 실물 구매가 가능한 그림책을 중심으로 유아교육 현장경력과 다문화교육 학위(석사,박사)가 있는 3인(주연구자1, 분석자2)에 의해 분석자간에 상호확인(cross-reading) 과정을 거쳐 그림책 선정이 이루어졌다. 그 결과 최종 39권의 도서를 선정하였다. 유아 다문화교육을 위한 그림책으로 선정된 도서를 살펴보면 다양성에 대한 내용을 다룬 그림책은 총 10편, 정체성에 대한 내용을 다룬 그림책은 총 13편, 반편견에 대한 내용을 다룬 그림책은 총 6, 공동체적 협력에 대한 내용을 다룬 그림책은 총 18편이었다. 이 중 두 가지 이상 다문화교육 내용 요소를 담고 있는 그림책은 총 8편이었다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to present picture book selection criteria for multicultural education using picture books for preschoolers and according to this selection criteria analyze the recommended books in teacher 's guide of a governmental level education curriculum, the Nuri curriculum. First, the selection criteria for picture books were determined while considering selection criteria for typical good picture books, important elements of multicultural education contents and other things. Typical good picture book selection criteria should include literature, artistry, and education. The elements of multicultural education contents should be divided into diversity, identity, anti - prejudice, and community cooperation. In addition, things that should be considered while selecting picture books include the background of a writer and illustrator, the year of publication of a book, and accessibility and utilization in education. All 264 picture books in Nuri Curriculum Teacher's Guide under the categories of ‘fairy tales, poems for children and theatre plays for children’, excluding poems for children, are mainly composed of picture books that can be purchased at a real bookstore. Picture book selection was conducted by three researchers who used these books and had job experience in early childhood education and got degree in multicultural education (Master, Ph. D) including one main researcher and two analysts. Cross-reading process was conducted between the analysts, and as a result, totally 39 books were selected. Among selected picture books for early childhood multicultural education a total of 10 picture books were selected on diversity development, 13 picture books on identity development, 6 picture books on anti-bias education and there was a total of 18 picture books about the cooperation. There were 8 picture books that contained more than two important elements of multicultural education contents.
