Abstract
The aim of this research is to find out the influence on stress hormone-catecholamine(epinephrine, norepinephrine), cortisol, a white blood cell subset(neutrophil, lymphocyte, monocyte) as indicator of immune function and immunity globulin(IgA, IgG, IgM) based of Judo players’ weight loss in short-term. 16 Judo player-subjects were divided into two experimental groups(n=8) which had gone through weight loss to the 5% of original body weight in 4 days and control groups(n=8) for this research. Diet, exercise and sauna were performed in order to the weight loss. We performed Paired t-test to the result of ‘pre-and-post’ weight loss and got a conclusion as follows. It revealed that bodywater, percent body fat, body fat mass, fat free mass, BMI got reduced meaningfully pre-and-post the exercise(p<.001). There was no meaningful change of epinephrine, cortisol in case of stress hormone, but there was a meaningful increase in norepinephrine (p<.05). There was a meaningful increase of lymphocyte in white blood cell subset as an immune function(p<.05), and there was a meaningful increase of IgA, IgG, IgM in case of immunity globulin(p<.05). There was a meaningful difference in IgA(p<.05) between two groups. In result, it revealed that short-term weight loss does have an effect on sudden physical weakness during the match due to the decline of bodily composition and In addition, the effects of stress hormones and immune function are significant.
