다문화 가정 청년들을 대상으로 한 미묘한 차별 척도의 개발과 타당화 연구

초록

본 연구에서는 다문화 가정 청년들을 대상으로 미묘한 차별 척도를 개발 및 타당화하였다. 설문 문항 개발을 위해연구 1에서는 다문화 가정 청년 12명을 대상으로 인터뷰를 실시하고, 선행 개념과 척도들을 참고하여 미묘한 차별척도의 예비 문항들을 제작하였다. 척도의 하위요인을 탐색하기 위해 다문화 가정 청년 324명을 대상으로 탐색적요인분석과 타당도 분석을 실시하였다. 탐색적 요인분석 결과 열등하고 소속되지 않는다는 가정(7문항), 지속적인비한국인 취급(9문항), 미디어속 미묘한 차별(5문항) 총 3요인 21문항이 도출되었다. 마지막으로, 연구 2에서는 다문화가정 청년 300명의 자료를 추가로 수집하여 확인적 요인분석과 수렴 및 준거 타당도 분석을 실시하였다. 결과 연구2에서 도출된 하위요인들과 문항들이 다문화 가정 청년들의 자료를 적합하게 설명하는 것으로 나타났으며, 사회적주변화와 유의한 정적 상관을 보였다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 다문화 가정 청년들을 대상으로 한 미묘한 차별경험의 이해와 활용과 관련된 시사점을 논하였다.

Abstract

In this study, we developed and validated a measure to empirically assess microaggressions experienced by multicultural young adults residing in South Korea. In study 1, we developed the measure items based on an interview of 12 multicultural young adults, prior theoretical and empirical literature, and existing measures of microaggressions. Next, to examine the factor structure of our measure, we administered the measure to 324 participants, and we conducted an exploratory factor analysis and examined the validity of the measure. Exploratory factor analysis revealed three factors totaling 21 items: assumptions of inferiority and non-belonging (7 items), perpetual treatment as non-Korean (9 items), and microaggressions in media (5 items). In study 2, based on 300 participants we conducted a confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and convergent and criterion-related validity were examined. Results from study 2 demonstrated that the factors and items sufficiently explained the variance in the multicultural young adults’ data, and our measure was significantly correlated with social marginalization.
