석사과정 대학원생의 교육만족도, 연구멘토링 경험과 진로탐색행동의 관계에서 진로성숙 및 연구효능감의 매개효과

초록

이 연구는 국내 석사과정 대학원생의 진로탐색행동, 진로성숙, 연구효능감, 교육만족도 및 연구멘토링 경험의 구조적관계를 분석함으로써 사회인지진로이론의 적용 대상을 확장하고 대학원생의 학습 및 연구경험이 진로탐색행동에영향을 미치는 과정을 이해하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국교육종단연구 자료를 활용하여 대학원 석사과정에 재학하고있는 242명을 대상으로 대학원생의 교육만족도 및 연구멘토링 경험이 연구효능감과 진로성숙을 매개로 진로탐색행동에영향을 미치는 구조방정식 분석을 실시하였다. 연구를 바탕으로 한 주요 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 석사과정 대학원생들의 교육과 연구 영역에서의 경험은 연구효능감을 직접적으로 증진시키는 것으로 나타났다. 대학원생이 학위과정을 통해 경험하는 핵심적인 활동이 학습과 연구라는점에서 이러한 경험이 성공적인 대학원 적응과 성과의 기본적인 요인임을 확인할 수 있다. 둘째, 대학원생의 연구효능감은진로성숙을 촉진하며, 교육만족도 및 연구멘토링 경험의 효과를 매개한다. 구체적으로 학습 및 연구 경험을 통해형성된 연구효능감은 대학원생들이 자신에 대한 이해를 높이고 독립적으로 체계적인 진로 계획을 수립하는데 기여하는것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 대학원생의 진로성숙은 다양한 연구경험 및 연구효능감이 진로탐색행동에 미치는 영향을완전 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 대학원생들이 진로와 관련하여 자기이해를 높이고 진로에 대한 계획성과독립성, 다양한 탐색행동이 수반될 때 이들의 진로탐색행동을 실질적으로 증진시킬 수 있음을 보여준다. 이 연구의 제언은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대학원생의 진로발달에 관심을 갖고 이를 체계적으로 지원할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 사회인지진로이론의 주요 변인들이 포함된 확장된 모형에 대한 분석이 필요하며, 대학원생의 진로발달에 대한다양한 변인들을 활용한 후속 연구가 필요하다.

Abstract

This study aimed to expand the application of social cognitive career theory by analyzing the structural relationships among career exploration behaviors, career maturity, research self-efficacy, educational satisfaction, and experience of research mentoring of graduate students in South Korea. Using data from the 「Korean Education Longitudinal Study」, a structural equation analysis was conducted with a sample of 242 master's level graduate students to investigate how educational satisfaction and experience of research mentoring impact career exploration behaviors through the mediating roles of research self-efficacy and career maturity. The key findings of this research are as follows: First, the experiences of graduate students in the domains of education and research directly enhance research self-efficacy. Second, research self-efficacy among graduate students promotes career maturity and mediates the effects of educational satisfaction and experience of research mentoring. Third, graduate students' career maturity was found to fully mediate the impact of various research experiences and research self-efficacy on career exploration behaviors. These results demonstrate that enhancing graduate students' understanding of themselves, planning for their careers, and engaging in diverse exploration behaviors significantly enhance their career exploration behaviors related to their careers. The implications of this study are as follows. First, there is a need to systematically support the career development of graduate students. Second, further analysis of an extended model that includes key variables from social cognitive career theory is essential, and subsequent research should explore the various factors influencing graduate students’ career development.
