외국인 유학생의 학업역량 제고를 위한 교과목 개발 사례 연구

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop a course for successful college adaptation and improvement of basic academic ability of international students. It is a well-known fact that international students have difficulties in performing their majors due to lack of academic ability, but the necessary education and support are lacking. For this reason, the course was developed according to the Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate model, and the detailed procedure is as follows. First, in the analysis stage, competencies necessary for academic adaptation were derived through preliminary research on previous studies, and surveys and in-depth interviews with international students and stakeholders. Second, in the design stage, educational contents were designed based on the competencies required for international students. Third, in the development stage, class materials and teaching plans were developed for class operation. Fourth, in the implementation stage, a semester-trial operation was conducted for first-year international students, and finally, the pilot operation result was evaluated and matters to be improved were reviewed. The course introduced in this study is expected to help international students adapt to their major early by providing customized education necessary for university education. In addition, from the university standpoint, it can reduce the dropout rate of international students and promote their stable management in the mid-to long-term.
