한국 정착 난민 아동의 학교 교육 적응에 관한 부모의 경험 연구

본 연구는 난민 아동의 한국 사회 정착 과정의 가장 중요한 문제를 ‘교육’으로 보고 사회적으로 취약한 위치에있는 난민 아동의 학교 교육에 관한 난민 아동 부모의 경험에 주목하여 한국 정착 난민 아동의 학교 교육 적응과정에관한 부모 경험에 내재되어 있는 본질적인 의미를 밝히고자 하였다. 이를 위해 학령기 자녀를 둔 난민 아동 부모8명을 대상으로 연구 윤리 기준과 절차를 준수한 개별심층 면담을 통해서 자료를 수집하였고, 난민 아동 부모 경험의본질적인 의미 구조에 대한 해석의 시각과 사유를 넓히기 위해 연구자의 경험, 어원 분석, 문학작품, 예술작품 등의자료도 함께 참고하였다. 개별심층 면접을 통해 수집된 자료는 van Manen의 해석학적 현상학 방법을 통해 의미와주제를 추출하고, 이를 van Manen이 제시한 다섯 가지 실존체(신체성, 시간성, 공간성, 관계성, 물질성)으로 범주화하였다. 연구결과 한국 정착 난민 아동의 학교 교육 적응에서 부모 경험에 내재되어 있는 본질적 주제는 ‘제약’, ‘낯섦’, ‘분리’, ‘의지’, ‘바람’으로 나타났으며, 난민 아동 부모의 경험은 일반 부모가 느끼는 자녀의 학교 적응 과정의 개인적, 가정적, 사회적 어려움과 이주민 부모가 느끼는 어려움이 혼재되어 있는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 난민 아동의 학교 적응과정에서의 부모 역할의 본질을 규명함으로써 국내 정착 난민 아동에 대한 효과적인 교육 지원을 위해서는 가족, 학교, 사회가 유기적으로 협력한 통합적 접근이 필요하며 난민 아동 부모의 교육권 보장되어야 한다는 것을 시사점으로제시하였다.
Abstract
This study considers 'education' as the most important issue in the process of refugee children's integration into Korean society, and focuses on the experiences of the parents of refugee children regarding the schooling of refugee children who are in a socially vulnerable position, and aims to reveal the intrinsic meaning of the parents' experience of refugee children who have settled in Korea in the process of adapting to school education. Data were collected through in-depth individual interviews with eight parents of refugee children with school-age children in compliance with research ethical standards and procedures, and data such as researchers' experiences, etymological analysis, literary works, and artworks were also consulted in order to broaden the perspective and thinking of the interpretation of the essential semantic structure of the experiences of parents of refugee children. The data collected through in-depth interviews were extracted from meaning and themes through van Manen's hermeneutical phenomenological method, and categorized into five entities (lived body, lived time, lived space, lived relation, lived things) proposed by van Manen. As a result of the study, it was found that the essential themes inherent in the parents' experience in the adjustment of refugee children resettled in Korea are 'Restriction‘, 'unfamiliarity', 'separation', 'willingness', and 'desire', and that the experiences of the parents of refugee children are a mixture of the personal, family, and social difficulties of the child's school adjustment process and the difficulties felt by the immigrant parents. By identifying the nature of parents' role in the school adjustment process of refugee children, this study suggests that an integrated approach in which families, schools, and society cooperate organically to effectively support the education of refugee children resettled in Korea is necessary, and that the educational rights of the parents of refugee children should be guaranteed
