본 연구의 목적은 국내 거주 난민 어머니들의 학령기 자녀 양육경험에 대한 심층적 이해 및 이에 따른 사회복지적 함의를 도출하는 것이다. 본 연구의 연구참여자는 3년 이상 국내 체류하고 국내 초등학교를 다니는 자녀를 양육하는 난민 어머니 6명이다. 연구자료는 개별심층면접으로 수집하였으며, 수집된 자료는 주제분석법으로 분석하였다. 그 결과 ‘난민 어머니로서의 개인적 특성’, ‘미시체계 수준의 양육경험’, ‘중간 및 외체계 수준의 양육경험’, ‘거시체계 수준의 양육경험’, ‘미래에 대한 기대’라는 5개의 주제가 도출되었다. 이를 토대로 난민 어머니들을 대상으로 하는 특성화 심리상담 또는 치료 서비스 모색, 학령기 난민아동들을 대상으로 하는 학교기반 심리상담서비스 접근성 제고, 민간난민단체 지원 역량 강화 및 정부와 민간 기관 간의 협력 증진, 자녀를 둔 난민가정의 체류자격 및 복지 지원에 관한 제도적 개선 등 사회복지 정책적⋅실천적 함의를 도출하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to gain in-depth understanding of the parental experiences of school-aged children of refugee mothers in South Korea, and to derive social welfare implications accordingly. Six refugee mothers were participated in this study who have been residing in South Korea for more than three years and are raising children attending elementary school in South Korea. Data were collected through individual in-depth interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis procedure. For the analysis results, five themes emerged: ‘Personal characteristics as a refugee mother,’ ‘Parental experiences at the microsystem level’, ‘Parental experiences at the meso and exosystem level’, ‘Parental experiences at the macrosystem level’, and ‘Expectations for the future’. Findings included improving access to school-based psychological counseling services for school-aged refugee children, exploring specialized psychological counseling or therapeutic services for refugee mothers, enhancing the capacity of private refugee organizations, fostering collaboration between government and private institutions, and implications for social welfare policies and practices including institutional improvements in residency and welfare support for refugee families with children.
