기존의 자원봉사 및 사회봉사 활동은 교과목과의 직접적인 연결고리가 없었다. 봉사학습은 직접적이 고 의도적으로 교과 수업과 지역사회 봉사활동을 통 합한 교육방법 중의 하나이다. 연구에 따르면, 교과 수업과 봉사의 통합은 수업에서 학생들의 학습 의욕 을 높이고, 사회문제 해결에 적극적인 자세를 가지게 해주며, 봉사의 가치를 알게 해 준다는 이점이 있다. 또한, 이 방법은 창의적 문제해결기법을 익히면서 전공과 관련된 프로젝트를 수행하기 때문에 최근 공 학교육 분야에서의 KEC 2005 기준의 많은 측면을 적용할 수 있는 환경을 제공해 준다. 더불어 지역사 회 공학프로젝트를 수행하게 되므로 창의적 문제해 결력과 더불어 봉사 마인드를 함양할 수 있는 좋은 교육방법으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 봉사학습 이 왜 새로운지, 다른 학습활동과는 어떤 차이가 있 는지, 다른 대학들은 어떻게 운영하고 있는지 등에 대해 살펴보고, 공학 분야에서 봉사학습 교과목 및 프로그램 운영을 위한 전략을 제안하고자 한다.
Abstract
Most of the volunteering and community service had no direct link with classroom learning. Servicelearning educational methodology that directly and intentionally integrates the classroom learning with service to the community. Research has found that this combination can improve the academic learning of the course material, give participants a deeper understanding of the social issues they address and provide valuable community services. And, service-learning has been offend environment to meet many of the KEC 2005 criteria that many be difficult to integrate into traditional engineering course. In studying, recognizing why service learning is a new attempt what is different form other learning experiences, we would like to search management strategies for service learning course and program development.
