초록
The purpose of the present study was to examine the longitudinal relationship between initial level and change in self-esteem during adolescence and depression in pre-adulthood, using data from a 5-year Korean Youth Panel Survey data. This study hypothesized that both intial level and change in self-esteem during adolescence affect depression in pre-adulthood. The results of this study through latent growth curve analysis were in the followings. First, adolescents who initial level in self-esteem during adolescence was low were more likely to exhibit symptoms of depression in pre-adulthood. Second, change in self-esteem during adolescence did not significantly predicted depression in pre-adulthood. The implications about the longitudinal relationship between initial level and change in self-esteem during adolescence and depression in pre-adulthood are discussed for counseling practice and future research.

Second, change in self-esteem during adolescence did not significantly predicted depression in pre-adulthood. The implications about the longitudinal relationship between initial level and change in self-esteem during adolescence and depression in pre-adulthood are discussed for counseling practice and future research.
