이 논문의 목적은 레스트의 도덕성 또는 도덕적 행동의 4구성 요소 모델을 이론 틀로 사용하여 윤리교육에 적용할 수 있는 교육적 함의를 논의하는 것이다. 그래서 논문은 윤리교육에서 학생들이 도덕성 각 요소에 필요한 기능들을 잘 발달시키도록 활용할 수 있는 교육 목표, 교육 전략이나 방법, 요소의 발달에 대한 평가에 대해 논의한다. 도덕성 4구성 요소 모델의 주요 함의는 도덕적 행동을 산출하는 4가지 심리과정을 모두가 발달하도록 촉진해야 한다는 것이다. 특히 이 모델은 도덕적 실패가 나타나는 이유를 이해하는 유용하다. 윤리교육자들은 이러한 점을 유념한다면 학생들의 도덕성 발달을 위한 효과적인 교육 경험을 설계할 수 있다. 윤리교육의 4구성 요소 모델에 관한 향후 연구 과제에는 요소별로 신뢰할 수 있는 도덕적 행동의 결과를 개발하고 측정하는 것이 포함된다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper was to use Rest’s Four Component Model of Morality as a theoretical framework to discuss the implications for Ethics Education. A discussion concerning educational goals, strategies, and assessment pertaining to Ethics Education and using the Four Component as a guide is provided. that students can use to develop their skills in each component area. The major implication of the Four Component Model is that all four processes of morality should be fostered. A major value of this framework is its usefulness for understanding the why of moral failing. This may enable educators to design effective educational experiences for students. Future research concerning the Four Component Model of Ethics Education could include developing and assessing reliable behavioral outcomes for each of the components.
