사회문화의 급격한 변화와 더불어 가족구조 및 부모-자녀 관계 그리고 신세대들의 가치관, 사고방식, 생활방식 등이 급변하고 있는 상황에서 전통적 효의 실행 방식을 그대로 유지하기란 쉬운 일이 아니다. 본 연구의 목적은 신세대들의 특성을 반영하는 현대적 효의 실행 방향을 어떻게 이론적으로 설정할 것인가? 그리고 그러한 현대적 효의 실행을 설명하고 정당화할 수 있는 하나의 이론적 틀을 어떻게 도출할 것인가? 라는 문제에 대한 답을 탐구하고자 하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 먼저 전통적 효에 대한 긍정적 및 부정적 평가를 검토해 보았다. 전통적 효에서 강조한 효의 근본정신이나 의미 자체를 수용하되, 전통적 효의 실행 방식에 대한 비판적 성찰을 토대로 하여 현대적 효 실행의 바람직한 방향을 전망하였다. 더 나아가 신세대의 특성을 반영하는 현대적 효 실행의 방식이나 그 이론적 근거를 도출하기 위한 하나의 새로운 틀로서 ‘윤리적 리더십-팔로워십 모델’을 구성하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to present a theoretical framework for modern filial piety practice that reflects the characteristics of the new generation. So I construct ethical leadership-followership midel that incorporates the relationship of parents as ethical leader and their children as ethical followers. According to ethical leadership theory, parents as leaders have a great influence on their children as followers. When parents perform the role as ethical leaders, their children as followers are also ethically influenced and can perform filial piety in modern sense. To this end, a change in perception of the role of children who are followers is requested, and two-way communication between parents and children based on trust and respect. is necessary. Ethical leadership-followership relationships are based on mutual responsiveness, interdependency and trust. The desirable direction of modern filial piety practice can be introduced to some extent when parents as ethical leaders personally improve their own ethical behavior as well as build relation of more trust and respect with their children who are followers at home organization, and use two-way communication each other.
