은상시기는 문명의 초기단계로서 엘리트귀족문화가 문화의 발전방향에 결정적인 작용을 하였다. 이들의 종교적인 내용은 점복과 제사 그리고 조상신과 자연신 및 지상신(상제) 관념으로 귀결된다. 은의 통치자는 상제를 제사의 직접 대상으로 삼지 않고 조상신을 통해야만 상제와 교통하였기 때문에 조상신에 대한 숭배와 제사는 국사의 핵심을 차지하였다. 조상에 대한 숭배와 제사의 중요성은 제사의식을 성대하게 진행되도록 하였을 뿐만 아니라 그 절차 역시 엄격하게 하였다. 이것은 자연히 혈연관계의 깊은 유대와 단결을 촉진시키거나 요구하며, 이에 따른 혈연관계의 질서의식도 보다 강화되게 하였다.
Abstract
As an early stage of civilization, elite(the chosen) and noble culture had a crucial effect on the aim of development in the times of the Shang dynasty. Religious nature of these times resulted in ideas of fortune-telling, religious services and spirits of ancestors, nature and heaven. Since the rulers of the Shang should communicate to heaven through spirits of ancestors, not directly, in religious service, the worship and the religious service was an important part among the national services. The gravity of the worship and the religious service to their ancestors made process of those services magnificent and had strict procedures. Naturally, this promoted and requested profound band and unity, and strongly enforced the awareness of the order in kinship.
