도덕과 교육의 통합적 접근 -배려윤리를 중심으로-

Abstract

Recently, pedagogical interest in care ethics education and in the harmony between justice ethics and care ethics is increasing in morality subject education. Till now, many moral philosophers suggested that male has rational morality while female has emotional morality. On the contrary, Gilligan suggested that the morality of female is different from the morality of male. He characterized the moral reasoning of female as care ethics and the moral reasoning of male as justice ethics; while paying attention to ‘different voices’ of male and female. Noddings applied the theory of Gilligan on morality subject education. Noddings learned that the care ethics emphasizing justice aspect is not sufficient to cultivate moral thinking skill and judgment skill. To complement this limitation, Noddings sought the harmony and integration of care ethics and justice ethics. Accordingly, this author sought for morality subject education plan, which can enhance the morality in the aspects of recognition, justice and behavior in integrated way. This author could find the clue of the answer to this in a literary work. Accordingly, an ethical community of inquiry, which utilized the literature of Lipman, is suggested in this study by utilizing a Korean novel for young adults, ‘Wandeugi’, as the teaching and learning plan, which would efficiently apply care ethics education in the morality subject education. The ethical community of inquiry of Lipman can enhance high-level thinking skill of students such as critical thinking skill, caring thinking skill and creative thinking skill. Especially the caring thinking of Lipman is an aspect of high-level thinking, which makes one to think about the role of caring others and the role of making cognitive judgment on the properness and justification; therefore, the ethical studying union activity has big contribution in care ethics education. The function of caring can be enhanced when caring is in harmony with reason; therefore, morality subject education, which enhances practical caring skill together with moral thinking skill, is required and it would be the true care ethics education.
