Abstract
The aim of this study is to empirically examine the effects of recalling types of moral experiences(reflective thinking vs realistic thinking) on activation of moral identity and prosocial behavioural will. According to the research results, students in the group who generated reflective thinking on moral experience had significantly higher scores of internalization of moral identity and intention to donate than students in the group that generated realistic thinking. Based on such empirical grounds, I argued that reflective thinking activates moral identity and induces consistent behavior consistent with moral self-perception. Realistic thinking, on the other hand, acts on the effects of moral cleansing and licensing and produces compensatory behaviors contrary to moral self-perception.
