현재 체첸공화국 및 북카프카즈 지역에서 러시아와 체첸인들과의 갈등은 정치적, 경제적, 사회문화적 요인이 복합적으로 작용하여 발생한 것이다. 현실적인 관점에서 보자면, 외세의 침략에 굴하지 않고 자신만의 독자성을 유지해 온 체첸인과 북카프카즈인들의 독립의지와 분리·독립 절대불가의 러시아 입장이 첨예하게 대립하기 때문이다. 즉 체첸의 독립과 그로 인한 연방탈퇴는 도미노현상으로 주변 이슬람공화국의 연쇄 탈퇴로 이어질 것이며, 그 결과 러시아연방 민족정책의 근간을 위협하여 결국 체제붕괴로까지 이어질 수 있기 때문이다.
Abstract
Socio-Cultural Factors of Region Conflict in the North Caucasus - Focused on Chechen Republic - The North Caucasus region is one of the most ethnically and linguistically diverse regions in the world. And the North Caucasus has always been a battleground of peoples, languages, cultures, religions. The Persians, the Greeks, the Romans, the Arabs, the Turks, and the Russians have been involved in the Caucasus and fought for regional hegemony. So the North Caucasus region, from the past to the present, has been a kind of arena of the struggle among the worldpowers. Historically, the relations of the North Caucasian peoples including Chechens to Russia have been very hostile, and the historical memory of the North Caucasian is closely tied strong struggles against the Russians. Nowadays, Chechens independent movements toward Russia have a variety of factors, for example, political, economical, socio-cultural. From the point of practical standard, Chechen's point of view to become independent state and Russian's situation have sharply been opposed to each other. Because Chechen's independence and her breaking away from Russian Federation have a realistic possibility of other Islam republics' linkage secession as Domino effect, and subsequently, it is likely to result in collapse of Russian Federation.
