Abstract
Objective : To report the clinical condition and the effect of oriental medicine treatment on patients with Premature Ovarian Failure(POF). Methods : Our research was based on 28 cases of POF(over FSH level 40mIU/mL) through medical records from February, 2001 to May, 2004. Research items were age of patients at first visit, BMI, past history, pregnancy history, preceding treatment yes or no, on-set time, the time required from on-set to visit, menstruation condition, constitution, accompanied symptoms, results after oriental medicine treatment, treatment period, frequent herbal medicine. And we analyzed statistically about factors to affect results after treatment. Conclusion : Average age of POF patients at onset time is 27.3 years old. Average age of POF patients at first visit is 29 years old. After oriental medicine treatment, 4 patients got pregnant naturally, 1 person got pregnant by oocyte donation IVF, over 1.5mm follicle was finded in 3 patients, 5 person had menstration over three times, 8 person had menstration once or twice. But there was no effect in 7 person. As a result of analysis about factors to affect outcome after treatment, higher the FSH level before treatment, younger the age at amenorrhoea on-set time, worse the prognosis was.
