Abstract
In the digital era, pricing algorithm has a significant impact on our lives. Algorithms have positive effects for both businesses and consumers. Businesses actively utilize algorithms to improve corporate efficiency, develop higher-quality products, and create incentives for innovation. For consumers, algorithms make it easier and more accurate to search for the prices of various products. Algorithms have the advantage of making digital markets more transparent, promoting competition, and enhancing consumer welfare. However, paradoxically, a transparent market creates an environment where collusion becomes easier, similar to an oligopoly, raising concerns about algorithmic collusion. Algorithms can serve as tools for collusion between competitors, act as intermediaries for information exchange, or even learn to collude on their own, leading to collusion outcomes. Under current antitrust laws, illegal collusion requires an agreement. To regulate algorithmic collusion, an agreement between competitors must be proven. However, the question arises whether the issue of algorithmic collusion can be addressed under existing antitrust laws. However, algorithmic collusion may emerge in even more diverse forms in the future, as AI evolves rapidly. Above all, it is crucial to take a balanced approach that does not undermine the pro-competitive effects of algorithms.
