후설의 ‘현전의 형이상학’을 바라보는 세 가지 시선 - 하이데거, 데리다, 마리옹 -

20세기 현대철학에서 후설이 차지하는 비중은 엄청 나게 크다. 특별히 그가 제시하는 현상학적 사유는 후대의 20 세기 현대철학자들에게 매우 직접적인 영향을 끼치면서, 한편 으로는 비판을 받게 된다. 후설에 대한 여러 비판 가운데 핵심 이 되는 비판 중 하나가 바로 그의 ‘현전의 형이상학’이다. 후 설 스스로가 자신의 철학을 ‘현전의 형이상학’이라고 규명한 적 은 없다. 하지만 후대의 철학자들은 후설이 현전에 대한 무리 한 집착을 보임으로서 다른 철학적 가치들을 은폐시켰다고 주 장한다. 이에 본 논고는 ‘현전의 형이상학’이 무엇인지 규명해 보고, 후설의 철학이 현전의 형이상학이라고 불리는 근거가 무 엇인지 알아보고자 한다. 이러한 작업은 다음 세 명의 철학자 들의 작업을 경유하는 가운데 이루어진다: 마틴 하이데거, 자크 데리다, 장-뤽 마리옹. 하이데거는 후설의 ‘현전의 형이상학’을 존재망각의 한 양태로 보며 비판을 가한다. 데리다는 후설이 집착한 현전이라는 이상이 결국 도달할 수 없는 것임을 보여주 면서 ‘현전의 형이상학’의 불가능성을 제시한다. 장-뤽 마리옹 은 후설이 직관의 우위성을 통해 현전의 구성가능성을 보여주 려고 했지만, 그 작업이 현상학적으로 철저하지 못한 것이었다 고 비판한다. 대상의 현전을 가능하게 하는 직관보다 더 우위 에 있는 것은 바로 ‘줌’(gegebenheit, donation, givenness,)이 다. ‘줌’의 우위성을 제시함으로서 마리옹은 현상학의 새로운 사유의 가능성을 열고자 한 것이다. 이 세 사람의 비판을 통해 우리는 이들의 철학적 입장의 차이를 가늠해볼 수 있을 것이 다. 또한 이들을 통해 우리는 우리가 가질 수 있는 새로운 사 유의 지평의 단초를 발견하는 수확을 얻을 것이다.
Abstract
Husserl is extremely important in 20th philosophy. In particular, phenomenological thinking he inflicts a very direct influence on 20th european continental philosophers while on one hand receiving criticisms. One of the core criticisms on Husserl is about his 'Metaphysics of Presence.' Husserl himself never defined his own philosophy as 'Metaphysics of Presence.' However, later philosophers argue that Husserl concealed other philosophical values by showing an excessive attachment to presence. Accordingly, the purpose of this study is to examine what 'Metaphysics of Presence' is and to investigate the basis on which philosophy of Husserl is called as metaphysics of presence. Such work is performed by going through works of the following three philosophers: Martin Heidegger, Jacques Derrida and Jean-Luc Marion. Heidegger criticizes Husserl's 'Metaphysics of Presence' as an aspect of forgetfulness of being. Derrida suggests impossibility of 'Metaphysics of Presence' by demonstrating that the ideology of presence to which Husserl clung on cannot actually be reached. Though Jean-Luc Marion criticizes that while Husserl attempted to show the possibility of formation of presence through dominance of intuition, such work was not phenomenologically complete. ‘Givenness(gegebenheit, donation)’ has dominance over intuition in making possible the presence of an object. Marion tried to open up the possibility of a new ground for phenomenology by suggesting dominance of ‘Givenness.’ Through criticisms of these three people, differences in philosophical standpoints between them can be seen. In addition, their perspectives can become a stepping stone for a new horizon of thoughts we can take on.
