Abstract
This study noted 'self-compassion' as a psychological variable that can induce positive consumer behavior in the whole purchasing process for symbolic brands. It was expected that self-compassion would affect the positive response of advertising, symbolic benefit awareness, compensation consumption, and post-purchase dissonance. Studies show that consumers with high levels of self-compassion are more aware of symbolic benefits, greater compensation consumption of symbolic benefit brands, and less post-purchase dissonance. If self-compassion level is high, consumers can fully enjoy the value provided by the symbolic benefit brand and is shown to be positive in post-purchase behavior. So, companies expect marketing communications to be effective in brand performance, which can target consumers with high levels of self-compassion or enhance consumers' self-compassion
