청년실업자 유형에 따른 심리적 특성의 차이

Differences in Psychological Characteristics by Types of Youth Unemployed

초록

본 연구는 청년실업자의 유형을 세분화하여 각 유형에 따른 심리적 특성을 살펴보고 이에 따라 심리 및 정책적 시사점을 제안하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 청년패널조사(YP2007) 9차 조사(2015년) 자료를 사용하였으며, SPSS 22.0을 활용하여 자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연도별 분포에서 나타난 유형별 특성을 살펴보면, 2017년 기준으로 포기형이 가장 많은 비중을 차지하고 있고, 그 다음 구직형, 기회추구형, 단절형의 순으로 나타났다. 둘째, 구직형, 기회추구형, 포기형은 25-30세의 연령에서 가장 많은 비중을 나타냈고, 최종학력도 점차 고학력으로 증가한 것을 볼 수 있다. 셋째, 취업스트레스로 인한 행동이나 증상의 결과, 전반적으로 구직형, 기회형, 포기형 모두 ‘자신감 상실’이 가장 높게 나타났고, 그 다음으로 ‘대인관계 기피’를 경험하고 있다고 응답했다. 넷째, 구직형, 기회추구형, 포기형 집단 간 스트레스, 자아존중감, 자기효능감의 차이를 살펴본 결과, 세 집단 간 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 특히 포기형이 구직형과 기회추구형에 비해 스트레스와 자아존중감이 유의하게 높았고, 포기형이 기회추구형에 비해 자기효능감이 유의하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 다섯째, 구직형, 기회추구형, 포기형 집단 간 우울, 자살충동, 자살시도, 정신상담경험 유무에서 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 청년실업자의 유형에 따른 구체적인 특성을 이해할 수 있었다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 마지막으로 본 연구 결과를 토대로 연구의 시사점과 제한점 및 후속연구를 위한 제언을 논의하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to subdivide the types of unemployed young people, examine the psychological characteristics of each type, and suggest psychological and policy implications. To this end, the Youth Panel(2015) was used and data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0. The research results are as follows. First, looking at the characteristics of each type in the yearly distribution, abandonment type occupies the largest share in 2017, followed by job-search, opportunity-seeking, and disconnection type. Second, job-search, opportunity-seeking, and abandonment type showed the highest proportions in the age of 25-30. Third, as a result of the behavior or symptoms caused by job stress, the job-search type, opportunity-seeking and abandonment type all showed the highest ‘loss of confidence’, followed by ‘avoidance of interpersonal relationship’. Fourth, there were significant differences among the three groups as a result of examining the differences in the stress, self-esteem, and self-efficacy among the job-search, opportunity-seeking, and abandonment type groups. In particular, the abandonment type was significantly higher in stress and self-esteem than the job-search and opportunity-seeking type, and the abandonment type was significantly higher than the opportunity-seeking type. Fifth, there were significant differences in depression, suicidal thoughts, suicidal attempts, and psychological counseling experience among job-search, opportunity-seeking, and abandonment groups. These findings are meaningful in that they could understand specific characteristics according to the type of youth unemployed. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study and suggestions for further research were discussed.
