사회적 차별경험과 인권의식, 인권참여활동의 관계: 청장년층과 고령층 비교를 중심으로

초록

본 연구는 사회적 차별 경험이 인권의식을 매개해 참여 활동에 이르는 구조적 관계를 검증하고, 이러한 구조의 청장년층과 고령층의 집단별 차이를 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 2016년 국민인권의식조사에 참여한 19세 이상 전국의 성인 남녀 1,286명의 데이터를 바탕으로, AMOS프로그램의 구조방정식모형의다집단 분석을 활용하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 사회적 차별 경험이 인권의식에 정적(+) 영향을 미쳤다. 둘째,인권의식은 인권참여 활동에 정적(+) 영향을 미쳤다. 셋째, 인권의식이 사회적 차별 경험과 인권참여 활동에관계에서 부분매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로, 연령별 집단차이를 비교한 결과, 청장년층은 사회적차별 경험과 인권참여 활동 관계에서 인권의식이 부분매개하는 반면, 고령층에서는 사회적 차별 경험이 인권참여 활동과 인권의식에 직접적 경로에만 영향을 미치고 있었다. 이상의 연구결과를 바탕으로 사회적 차별경험과 인권의식, 인권참여 활동에 대한 정책적·실천적 함의를 제시하였다.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the structural relationship among socialdiscrimination experiences, human rights awareness, and human rights participationactivities and evaluate the difference in the structure between young/middle andolder adults. Based on nationwide data from 1,286 adult men and women aged 19and over who participated in the 2016 National Human Rights Awareness Survey,a multigroup structural equation modeling analysis was performed in this studyusing AMOS software. The results show that, first, the experience of socialdiscrimination has a positive effect on human rights consciousness. Second, humanrights awareness has a positive effect on human rights participation activities. Third, human rights awareness partially mediates social discrimination experiencesand human rights participation activities in the relationship. Finally, as a result ofcomparing the group differences by age, young and middle-aged people partiallymediate their human rights awareness in the relationship between their experiencesof social discrimination and human rights participation, whereas in older adults, theexperience of social discrimination affects only the direct path to human rightsparticipation and human rights awareness. Also, based on the results, policy andpractical implications for social discrimination experiences, human rightsawareness, and human rights participation activities are presented.
