본 연구는 인구감소에 직면한 어촌마을과 도서지역을 위해 특별히 설계된 수정된 공간 MBTI 진단도구를 개발하고 검증한다. 기존의 건축도시연구원(AURI)의 공간 MBTI 프레임워크가 일반적인 도시-농촌의 특성에 초점을 맞추고 있는 반면, 이 연구는 어촌과 도서 지역사회의 독특한 특징을 반영하는 고유한 지표 체계를 수립한다. 본 연구는 강화군의 어촌마을들을 대상으로 이 수정된 도구를 적용하여, 기존 AURI 프레임워크와 새로운 어촌 특화 프레임워크 간의 결과를 비교한다. 분석 결과, 모든 차원에서 상당한 차이가 나타났으며, 특히 가치 차원에서는 AURI의 연구결과와 달리 어촌마을들이 전통적 가치(T)보다 미래 가치(F)에 대한 더 강한 선호도를 보였다. 또한, 본 연구는 중심도서와 소규모 도서 간의 뚜렷한 발전 패턴 차이를 식별하였는데, 중심도서들이 외부 인구 유입(E)과 미래 가치 지향(F)에 대해 더 강한 경향을 보였다. 이러한 연구 결과는 도서지역의 규모와 기능에 따른 차별화된 정책 접근의 필요성에 대한 실증적 증거를 제공한다. 본 연구는 지역 진단 방법론의 발전에 기여하고 어촌마을과 도서지역을 위한 맞춤형 발전 전략 수립에 실질적인 시사점을 제공한다.
Abstract
This study contributes to the development and validation of a modified Space-MBTI diagnostic tool specifically designed for fishing villages and island regions experiencing population decline. While the existing Space-MBTI framework by AURI (Architecture & Urban Research Institute) focuses on general urban-rural characteristics, this research establishes a unique indicator system reflecting the distinctive features of fishing and island communities. The modified tool was applied to fishing villages in Ganghwa County, comparing results between the existing AURI framework and the new fishing village-specific framework. The analysis reveals significant differences across all dimensions, particularly in the Value dimension, where fishing villages show a stronger preference for future value (F) over traditional value (T), contrary to AURI’s findings. Furthermore, the study identifies distinct development patterns between hub islands and smaller islands, with hub islands exhibiting stronger tendencies toward external population influx (E) and future value orientation (F). These findings provide empirical support for differentiated policy approaches based on the size and function of island regions. The research contributes to the advancement of regional diagnosis methodology and offers practical implications for establishing customized development strategies for fishing villages and island regions.
