초록
This study was conducted to analyze the performance maintenance and enhancement strategies of Taekwondo national team athletes. The study participants were five elite Taekwondo Kyorugi athletes with international competition achievements, who underwent in-depth interviews and focus group interviews (FGI). The findings identified five major categories of self-management strategies. First, athletes' initiation into Taekwondo was significantly influenced by parents and coaches, and the strict training environment contributed to their performance development. Second, in preparation for competitions, athletes meticulously managed weight control, physical conditioning, and injury prevention strategies to maintain peak performance. Third, psychological factors played a crucial role in sustaining confidence and managing anxiety during matches, with athletes relying on communication with coaches and peers for psychological stability. Fourth, regarding technical aspects, athletes balanced fundamental skill training with physical conditioning, refining their performance through repetitive practice and structured feedback. Fifth, in goal setting and motivation, national team athletes established specific, measurable goals and followed systematic training plans to optimize their performance. The results of this study provided practical insights for developing Taekwondo training programs and coaching methodologies. Furthermore, future research should explore psychological factors and self-management strategies in greater depth to further enhance Taekwondo performance.
