Abstract

Pronunciation rules are essential to learning a new phonetic system. In our mother tongue, naturally to say such and such a word, as well as in a foreign language where it relies on specific knowledge and reflexive learning. Presumably, the "appropriate pronunciation" is a concern widely shared by teachers and learners of a foreign language. However, many French teachers would like to renew the way they teach pronunciation, while grasping this complex field of study. The purpose of this study is to propose a new model for the teaching of French pronunciation based on the principle of a Zoom. The article begins with an overview of the theoretical background of the French pronunciation education, with different teaching methods applied throughout the twentieth century. Traditionally, two mains patterns might describe the pronunciation teaching approach: "bottom- up" and "top-down". The weakness of each model does not consider the background of each particular learner. Therefore, avoiding such ways, this article provides a new model for pronunciation classes based on level examination, learning objectivesand the context of the learner.
