초록

Literatures about the effects of economic growth based on international trade activities and investment patterns have been extensively studied. This paper analyzes the basic aspects of international transaction activities of one of the BRIC countries, Russia, and its development after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Especially, international trade and FDI were investigated in depth to look at the patterns of Russian economic growth over a period of 10 years. Results show that, despite the great development perceived by the country since the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Russian economy still remains one of the most closed in the world and continues to maintain entry barriers. How Russia will respond to a high level of corruption and insufficient institutions that prevent its growth would primarily depend on its capabilities for a sustainable development in the new geopolitical and geo-economic reality. Trade and economic relation between Korea and Russia is on the stage of its development, and there is still a great potential that would be beneficial for both parties. Finally, this study helps to understand the structure and characteristics of the trade and investment of Russia, which could in turn help CEOs to be aware of potential pros and cons and create strategies.
