Abstract

This study was conducted to emphasize the importance of regional specificity in setting determinants for FDI determinants research. Despite the various existing studies on the determinants of FDI, the determinants of FDI were being established without a separate study on regional specificity. In this case, even if FDI determinants are established through review of existing studies, there is no choice but to show limitations. Therefore, FDI determinants have been newly constructed centering on the case of the Middle Eastern European automobile industry. First of all, the specificity of the automotive industry in Europe and Central and Central Europe was first examined. The peculiarity of Europe is that trade barriers caused by economic integration disappear, and the phenomenon of industrial redeployment continues. And, taking into account this, the specialty of the auto industry in Central and Eastern Europe is that the industry was formed through FDI, and the production base was relocated to export-oriented automobile production and cost reduction. Based on this particularity, the determinants for unnecessary or other parts were excluded and the determinants were organized based on the existing FDI determinant theory. As such, it is considered important to prioritize research on the specificity of the region through regional studies.
