이 연구는 1981년에 대통령에 당선되어 1988년에 재선된 프랑스의 미테랑 대통령이 기획하고 실천한 두 정치적 연출에 대한 상징론적 해석을 시도하고자 한다. 미테랑 대통령은 대통령 취임의례를 프랑스 국립묘지인 팡테옹에서 마무리하는 예외적인 연출을 보여주었고, 1988년에는 루브르 박물관 중앙 광장에 유리 피라미드를 건립하는 문화 기획을 이끌었다. 이 연구는 미테랑의 이와 같은 정치 프로젝트를 권력 정당성에 연결된 정치적 연출의 차원에서 해석하고자 한다. 팡테옹의 취임의례를 좌파권력의 탄생을 이념적으로 신성화하는 과정으로, 루브르 박물관의 피라미드를 대통령 권력의 역사적 미화의 과정으로 해석하면서, 궁극적으로 미테랑의 사례를 권력 정당성의 근대적 원리에 대한 비판적 성찰의 계기로 이해하고자 한다.
Abstract
This study attempts a symbolic interpretation of the two political productions planned and practiced by French President Mitterand, who was elected president in 1981 and re-elected in 1988. In 1981, Mitterrand showed an exceptional direction to finish the presidential inauguration ceremony at the Panthéon, a French national cemetery, and in 1988 led a cultural plan to build a glass pyramid in the central square of the Louvre Museum. This study intends to interpret Mitterrand's political project in terms of political production linked to power legitimacy. Pantheon's inauguration ceremony is interpreted a process of ideologically sanctifying the birth of leftist power, and the Louvre's pyramid as a process of historical aestheticization of presidential power, and ultimately, we want to understand Mitterrand's case as an opportunity for critical reflection on the modern principle of legitimacy of power.
