In this study, a bibliographical analysis was conducted on the contents and structure of Dongmun Jip’eum 『東文集音』(hereinafter DM) which is housed in the Yonsei University Library. Also, this study focused on phonetic notations written in Hangeul, and found that the method was different from other books discovered from the same time period. Some of the key characteristics of DM are as follows: First, /i/ was spelled as ‘ㆍ’, and /ɿ/ was used as ‘ㅣ’. Second, /-i/ of diphthongs were spelled as final consonant ‘ㅅ’. Third, affricates were marked as ‘ㄷ’ and ‘ㅌ’ with medial /-i-/.
