장애인올림픽대회 관련 신문의 보도경향 분석: 1988년-2012년 중심으로

본 연구는 1988년 제8회 서울 장애인올림픽대회부터 2012년 제14회 런던 장애인올림픽대회까지 국내 신문의장애인올림픽과 관련된 보도 경향을 분석 하는데 그 목적이 있다. 자료 수집은 연구자를 포함한 특수체육 전공자 4인과 신문의 보도자료 분석 경험이 있는 스포츠 마케팅 전공자 3인이 하였다. 자료수집 방법은 주저자가조선·중앙·동아일보를 대상으로 각 신문사별로 2인씩 배분하여 총 6인이 지난 일곱 차례의 올림픽 기간 동안발행된 전체 보도 자료를 정독한 후 개별적으로 기사내용 및 사진자료를 스크랩 하였다. 이와 같이 1차적으로수집된 보도 자료를 토대로 동일한 7인이 참석한 전문가 회의 후 최종적으로 자료 분석에 사용할 보도 자료를결정하였다. 수집된 자료를 토대로 보도 형태별, 성별, 장애내용별로 분석변인을 선정 후 SPSS Version 20.0을이용하여 각 변인별 빈도수와 백분율을 산출한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 장애인올림픽 관련 총 530건의 보도내용 중 사진 자료는 273건이고 기사 자료는 257건으로써 시진이 기사의 양보다 16건 많았다. 둘째, 남자 선수와 관련된 보도 자료는 총 258건으로 99건의 여자 선수와 관련된 보도내용에 비해 3배 가까이 높았다. 셋째, 성별에 따른 사진의 장애 내용 분류 결과 163건의 남자 선수 사진 중 휠체어를 사용하는 운동선수의 사진이 70건으로 가장 많았고 절단장애선수의 사진자료는 38건으로 조사 되었다. 또한 총 60건의 여자 선수 사진 자료를장애 구분별로 분류시 장애의 판별이 불가능한 상체 혹은 얼굴 중심의 사진자료가 33건으로 전체 여자 선수 사진의 절반 이상으로 조사 되었으며 휠체어를 사용하는 여자 운동선수의 사진이 16건으로 조사 되었다
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to analyses the newspaper coverage from the 1988 Seoul Paralympic Games to 2012 London Paralympic Games by three korean newspapers(Chosun, Joongang, and Dong-A Ilbo). All data were collected by four adapted physical education specialists and three sport management specialists. After data collection, three variables which were the form of newspaper, gender, and category of disability were selected. Collected date were analyzed using SPSS 20.0 Version to measure a frequency analysis and computing percentage. The results were as follow: First, among the 530 data, newspaper pictures(n=273) were 16 more than newspaper article(n=257). Second, the data from male athletes with disabilities were almost three times more than female athletes with disabilities. Third, among the 163 pictures from male athletes with disabilities, 70 pictures were wheelchair users and 38 pictures from amputations disorders, and among the 60pictures from female athletes with disabilities, 33 pictures were focused on the face or upper body, which was hided their physical disabilities, and 16 pictures were wheelchair users.
