Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of thera-band and treadmill training on the daily physical strength and balance ability individuals with hemiplegia. nineteen participant(9 for thera-band group, 10 for treadmill group)with hemiplegia were recruited and divide into wo groups by matching sampling. The training for two groups was conducted for fifty minutes daily, 3 or 4 times a day during 12weeks. For evaluating, two-way Mixed ANOVA with repeated measures on the second factor was used to assess daily physical strength and balance ability. First of all, There was a significant interaction between group and time on knee joint extension. thera-band training group showed a significant improvement on sit to standing, and time up & go, knee joint extension and flexion, and treadmill training group showed a significant improvement on time up & go only. Second, At the balance ability, there was a significant difference on the group and time for the falling risk. The threra-band group, there was a significant difference on time, but the treadmill group did not showed any significant difference. 12-week thera-band training has an effect on daily physical strength and balance improvement for hemiplegia by stroke, and especially, the thera-band training has more significant effects on the most subordinate variables than treadmill. It is considered that the application of thera-band and treadmill training simultaneously would help to patients with hemiplegia during stroke treatment.
