본 연구는 『홍무정운역훈』에 기록된 훈민정음 표기를 분석하여 『홍무정운』 76운본과 80운본 사이의 체계적 특징과 음운적 전개를 규명하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 『홍무정운역훈』을 매개 자료로 삼아 두 판본을 비교함으로써, 80운 체계에서 새롭게 추가된 운부인 微(미)운, 尾(미)운, 未(미)운, 術(술)운의 구성 원리와 음운적 특징에 초점을 맞추었다. 첫째, 『홍무정운역훈』의 훈민정음 표기는 『홍무정운』의 음운 구조를 분석하는 데 있어 결정적인 근거를 제공함을 확인하였다. 둘째, 본 연구는 각 운부의 소운(小韻)과 운자(韻字)의 기원, 반절(反切) 표기의 차이, 그리고 微(미)운·尾(미)운·未(미)운·術(술)운에서 나타나는 합운(合韻) 및 분운(分韻) 형식의 사용 양상을 밝혀냈다. 셋째, 微(미)운·尾(미)운·未(미)운이 비교적 단순한 구조적 특징을 보이는 반면, 術(술)운은 복잡한 구성과 다양한 음운 변이 양상을 나타내었다. 종합적으로 볼 때, 본 연구의 비교 분석은 『홍무정운』 76운본과 80운본 사이의 명확한 체계적 차이를 드러낸다. 본 연구의 의의는 『홍무정운역훈』의 훈민정음 표기를 통해 두 운서 체계 간의 체계적 차이와 음운적 변화를 실증적으로 추적할 수 있음을 보여주는 데 있다.
Abstract
This study investigates the systematic characteristics and phonological developments between the 76-rhyme and 80-rhyme editions of the Hongwuzhengyun by analyzing the Hunminjeongeum notation recorded in the Hongmujeongunyeokhun. Using the Hongmujeongunyeokhun as a mediating source, the study compares the two editions with particular attention to the compositional principles and phonological features of the rhyme categories newly added in the 80-rhyme system: 微(wei)-rhyme, 尾(wei)-rhyme, 未(wei)-rhyme, and 術(shu)-rhyme. First, the findings confirm that the Hunminjeongeum notation in the Hongmujeongunyeokhun provides crucial evidence for analyzing the phonological structure of the Hongwuzhengyun. Second, the study identifies the origins of Xiaoyun and Yunzi, differences in Fanqie notation, and patterns in the use of Heyun Fenyun forms for 微(wei)-rhyme, 尾(wei)-rhyme, 未(wei)-rhyme, and 術(shu)-rhyme. Third, while 微(wei)-rhyme, 尾(wei)-rhyme, 未(wei)-rhyme demonstrate relatively simple structural features, 術(shu)-rhyme presents a complex configuration and exhibits diverse phonological variations. Overall, the comparison reveals clear systematic distinctions between the 76-rhyme and 80-rhyme editions of the Hongwuzhengyun. The significance of this research lies in demonstrating that the Hunminjeongeum notation in the Hongmujeongunyeokhun enables empirical tracing of both the systematic differences and the phonological changes across the two rhyme systems.
