본 연구의 목적은 50세 이상 뇌성마비 장애인이 나이 듦에 따라 경험하는 신체적, 심리적 변화를 파악하고 그 의미를 질적연구 방법을 사용하여 탐색하는 것이다. 연구참여자는 50세 이상 의사소통이 가능한 뇌성마비 장애인 19명이다. 자료는 반구조화된 질문지를 사용하여 심층면담을 통해 수집되었고, 통증 위치와 통증 강도에 관한 자료 수집을 위해 문서 자료(통증 사정 질문지)를 추가하였다. 심층면담은 개인별 1~2회, 1회당 50분~120분으로 진행되었다. 수집된 자료는 주제분석과 지속적인 비교분석방법을 사용하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과 ‘예상치 못한 빠른 노화의 진행’은 ‘누구도 알려주지 않았던 뇌성마비 인의 노화’, ‘신체기능퇴화를 앞당긴 젊은 시절의 육체노동’, ‘나이 듦에 따라 악화되는 통증’, ‘걷지 못하는 것에 대한 두려움’, ‘피할 수 없는 수술과 고통스러운 후유증’의 하위주제로 묶을 수 있었다. ‘긍정과 부정이 공존하는 삶’은 ‘감사하는 현재의 삶’, ‘통증으로 인해 심화되는 우울’, ‘경제적 빈곤과 안정’으로, ‘나와 우리를 위해 노력하는 삶’은 ‘관계의 질적 성장’과 ‘나를 위해 노력하는 삶’의 하위주제로 묶을 수 있었다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 장애와 조기노화로 인한 손상을 최소화하고, 잔존기능을 최대화하기 위해서는 생애주기별 유기적 연관성이 고려된 예방적 관점의 방안 마련이 필요함을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 뇌성마비 장애인들의 노화 관련 지원 및 제도 마련에 기초자료를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analysis the physical and psychological changes experienced by people with cerebral palsy over the age of 50 years old and to explore their meaning using a qualitative research method. The study participants were 19 people with cerebral palsy who were 50 years of age or older and able to communicate. Data were collected through in-depth interviews using semi-structured questionnaires, and document data (pain assessment questionnaire) was added to collect data on pain position and pain severity. In-depth interviews were conducted 1 to 2 times per individual, for 50 minutes to 120 minutes per session. Collected data analyzed using thematic analysis and constant comparative analysis methods. As a result of the study, three themes emerged: (a) 'unexpected rapid aging', including ‘the aging of the disabled with cerebral palsy that no one told ', ’physical work in youth that hastened the deterioration of physical function’, 'pain that worsens with age', 'fear of stopped walking', and 'unavoidable surgery and painful aftereffects'; (b) 'Life in which positive and negative coexist', including ‘grateful present life’, ‘depression that worsens due to pain’, and 'economic poverty and stability'; (c) 'a life that strives for me and us', including 'quality growth in relationships' and 'a life that strives for me and us'. Therefore, it is necessary to prepare measures from a preventive point of view to minimize the damage caused by disability and premature aging and maximize the residual function through this study. This study is expected to provide basic data for aging-related support and system preparation for people with cerebral palsy.
